Revolva RF/EF

From £900.00

Rapid, Intuitive, Robust.

Revolva RF/EF is the essential combination filter mount and adapter for RED® Komodo. Converting from Komodo’s native RF mount to electronic Canon EF, Revolva performs double duty by providing an integrated ND system with cinema quality optics.  Filter cartridges are loaded with a four-position rotating filter.  Revolva RF/EF is compatible with any quick-change Revolva cartridge, for best of class ND and diffusion, right where you need it.

It’s easy to love. No fumbling with trays, sticking screw threads or dropped and smashed filters. No strange optical artefacts or ruined colour from polarised variable ND optics.  Just slip in the tough aerospace alloy filter cartridge and spin to the filter you need.

Revolva RF/EF is designed especially to complement Komodo, but will fit any RF mount.  All standard EF lenses are compatible, and all available electronic functionality from the host camera is passed through.

Included is a robust support foot engineered to match the Komodo’s body size, allowing the EF mount to be tied rigidly to a base plate or other support with 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 fittings.

Optionally the Chinstrap mount support provides exceptional rigidity connecting the Revolva RF/EF directly to the Komodo camera body.

Lead time for new orders is approximately 3 weeks

Please select support type and filter cartridges below.

Note: Revolva requires at least one cartridge to function,  but is compatible with all pre-existing cartridges.

ND Cartridges supplied with any other Revolva are compatible with Revolva RF/EF

Revolva RF/EF brings all the practicality of the original design for DSMC2, to the RED Komodo. Ideal for rapid, challenging production work and electronic EF glass.

The design complements your RED® system elegantly, with robust and ergonomic engineering.

At the heart of the Revolva system, the quick change cartridge contain four best of class filters with ND values from clear to 2.1.  Any existing Revolva cartridge is compatible too.

The filter wheel snaps magnetically between positions, locks positively, and clicks safely into the mount.

For ultimate stability we strongly recommend configuring Revolva RF/EF with the Chinstrap mount support, locking the mount firmly and directly to the Komodo body.

Ultra neutral FSND

ND 0 (clear)
ND 0.6
ND 1.2
ND 2.1

Revolva ND cartridges use Full Spectrum neutral density filters.  This means that the visible and near-IR light is controlled and reduced to precisely the same degree.  As a result colour shifts otherwise caused by invisible IR pollution are intelligently minimised.

Revolva compensates for back focus by design.
As long as you have a Revolva cartridge fitted, back focus will be correct.
Bear in mind that temperature, knocks and bumps and other factors can affect back focus for any given lens and camera.
Adjusting backfocus on DSMC2 is simple, so you should collimate prior to shooting whenever absolute precision is required.
Shims for Revolva PL, RF/PL and RF/EF units are available by request for Ranger and Komodo users.
Category: Function FAQ

Category: Function FAQ
Revolva for DSMC2 is comparable to any regular DSMC2 mount.
We advise you to use lens support wherever you normally would.
Typical primes and stills lenses are no issue.

On Komodo, Revolva RF/PL and RF/EF it is almost essential to use the supplied support foot, or better the Chinstrap, to prevent otherwise expected movement in the camera’s RF mount.
