Client & Context
KAO commissioned a live fireside discussion to bring together industry voices for a panel conversation hosted at their London headquarters.
The event was designed for both an in-person audience and remote attendees, allowing the discussion to reach a wider professional audience beyond the room.
A live stream ensured that participants and viewers could follow the conversation in real time while also creating a recorded version for later viewing.
The Challenge
The production required careful coordination to manage both the live event environment and the technical demands of broadcast.
Key considerations included:
- Covering a nine-person panel discussion clearly and dynamically
- Balancing the experience for both in-person attendees and online viewers
- Integrating house lighting with additional production lighting
- Delivering a reliable live stream to the client’s chosen platform
- Ensuring the event was also captured as a high-quality recorded asset
The goal was to provide broadcast-level coverage without disrupting the natural flow of the discussion.
Our Approach
Structured Multi-Camera Coverage
A three-camera setup was deployed to cover the panel effectively.
This allowed for a combination of wide shots of the full discussion and tighter framing on individual speakers, ensuring the conversation remained visually engaging throughout the event.
The cameras were connected to a live vision mix system, allowing the programme to be edited live during the discussion.
Lighting & Technical Setup
The production combined existing venue lighting with additional fixtures to ensure the panel was clearly and consistently lit on camera.
Audio capture was managed to support both the in-room audience and the live stream, ensuring clear dialogue for all speakers.
The technical setup was designed to remain unobtrusive while still delivering a polished broadcast presentation.
Live Streaming & Recording
The event was streamed directly to the client’s chosen video platform, allowing remote viewers to follow the discussion in real time.
At the same time, the programme feed was recorded for post-event use, providing the client with a high-quality version that could be shared with audiences unable to attend.
The production setup also allowed for future integration of media inserts or additional content if required.
