A social-first documentary series following endurance athlete Sean Conway as he prepared for and ultimately completed 105 consecutive Ironman-distance triathlons, capturing the human story behind one of the most demanding endurance challenges ever attempted.

Client & Context

The project followed Sean Conway as he prepared for and undertook the

extraordinary challenge of completing 105 Ironman-distance triathlons in 105

consecutive days.

The series aimed to document not only the physical endurance required, but also the personal motivations and support structures that made such a challenge possible.

Designed for social platforms, the content focused on authentic storytelling,

capturing both the preparation and the emotional moments throughout the journey.

The Challenge

The production required a flexible, documentary-led approach.

Key considerations included:

  • Capturing authentic moments without disrupting Sean’s preparation and challenge schedule
  • Filming in real-world environments with minimal setup
  • Producing engaging social-first content from a small production footprint
  • Documenting key milestones throughout the challenge
  • The goal was to remain unobtrusive while still capturing the scale and emotional significance of the achievement.

Our Approach

Documentary-Style Storytelling

The first stage of the series focused on preparation.

We filmed interviews with Sean at his home in Mold, Wales, where he spoke openly about the physical and mental demands of the challenge ahead. His partner also shared insight into the personal realities of supporting such an ambitious

Undertaking.

These interviews were captured using a two-camera setup, allowing for natural conversation while providing editorial flexibility.

Capturing the Environment

Supporting footage was filmed in the surrounding Welsh countryside, showing Sean cycling and running as part of his training routine.

These sequences helped ground the story visually, providing context to the scale of the challenge while maintaining the natural, observational tone of the series.

Following the Journey

Later in the challenge, on Day 102, our director Fernando joined Sean for the

cycling stage of the Ironman, capturing part of the journey from within the challenge itself.

The final stage of filming documented the completion of the challenge, with

coverage of the finish line following Sean’s marathon. Interviews and reactions

from family and friends helped capture the emotional impact of the achievement.
